My Sinfulness

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy;
when I fall, I shall rise;
when I sit in darkness,
the Lord will be a light to me.
I will bear the indignation of the Lord
because I have sinned against him,
until he pleads my cause
and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me out to the light;
I shall look upon his vindication.
Micah 7:8-9 ESV

What recompense may I offer to satisfy
the Maker of Heaven and Earth,
the uncreated Creator of mighty cherubs,
of the birds that take flight from morn to dusk,
of the beasts that roam the plains yonder,
of the fishes that fill the unexplored oceans?

This corrupt and foulest of beings,
created in the likeness of his Designer
to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever,
has instead committed high treason against the Sovereign!

O LORD,
my sins are laid bare before me,
all is unraveled under the scrutiny of Your Holy Light.

The lust of the flesh and passions that brought temporal satisfaction,
the lies that allowed me to escape men’s reprove,
the stealing that gave false riches,
the negligence of adhering Your holy precepts found in Your Word,
has led me nowhere but to death!

Hypocrite! How long have I, Lord, delved in this gross hypocrisy!
Claiming that the old has been put off,
and that I am wearing the new self.
Talk! They are all but empty speech and lies!

Have mercy on me.
Save me from this carnality.
Do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me!
Have mercy on me!

Please, O Mighty King,
full of power and compassion,
turn my wicked heart of stone into flesh
by Your Spirit’s power.

Convince me to believe in Your Son
and His finished work on that tree.
To know that my infinite debt incurred by my sins
weren’t simply wiped away like bad debts,
but was paid with the blood currency of the innocent Lamb.
That God Himself should choose to die on my behalf.

That You’ve raised the Son from the grave,
and united me with Him in that mighty act of resurrection.
That death has been defeated once and for all,
and The Son is now the Name above all Names
worthy of all glory and praise!

Teach me to Kiss the Son, Almighty King.
So that I may be called Your son once again.

Do not hide your face from me, lest me die so that I may see it.

Wash and cloak me with your atoning blood.
And seal this faith within me by Your Spirit’s power.

Perfect this faith, O God,
and strengthen me to upkeep Your righteous decrees.

So that my flesh and the powers that once held me captive to death,
may be quenched and crushed.
So that You may be glorified,
and that this amazing grace will be sung about through all eternity.

Then my enemy will see,
and shame will cover her who said to me,
“Where is the Lord your God?”
My eyes will look upon her;
now she will be trampled down
like the mire of the streets.
Micah 7:10 ESV
